Wine Marinated Grapes

"From Bon Apetit. This recipe is great for a dinner party because it is so easy and attractive, but it also tastes really good. The recipe says you can add the leftover wine marinade to chilled club soda to make drinks out of it."

  • Break the bunch of grapes apart into little clusters.
  • Combine white wine and sugar in a large bowl and stir to dissolve sugar. (The recipe says not to use an aluminum bowl.).
  • Add in the grapes and lemon peel, and gently toss to coat.
  • Cover and refrigerate at least 3 hours or up to 24 hours.
  • Transfer grapes to a serving tray or shallow bowl and sprinkle with rest of sugar.
  • Optional: you can substitute the sprinkled sugar for a bit of fresh chopped rosemary.

  1. Not only did this ruin a perfectly good bottle of wine, but it also destroyed two pounds of grapes. This is the most expensive waste of food that I've ever committed.

I live in Chattanooga with my daughter. I work at a used bookstore, and I love to read pretty much everything, especially cookbooks. Some of my favorite cookbooks are those of Nigel Slater, Barbara Kafka, Thomas Keller, and Nigella Lawson, plus the Moosewood series. I think perhaps my biggest pet peeve is food snobbery, and indeed snobbery in general. I love trying new things so much that I rarely make the same dish twice. Oh, a big thank you to all who have reviewed my stuff recently. I am currently without premium membership and unable to tell you so on an individual basis.
