  1. These may taste bland because there's no salt in the recipe. Baked goods need salt to taste good just as savory foods do. I would use about 1/2 tsp. in this recipe. Also, you might try apple juice in place of the water.
     
  2. Not a bad muffin, a bit bland and dry though.
