Teriyaki Sauce

"This is a recipe request. I use this sauce over steamed veggies and brown rice, and it is delish! This can also be used for a stir-fry or great with some chicken and plain ol' egg noodles."

  1. Great and easy recipe. Skipped the corn starch and used it as marinade.

  2. Oh my goodness! Yum! I can't believe this tastes so good for how easy it was to make! I only used 1.5 T cornstarch and I did use 3 cloves of garlic, but 2 would have been plenty. I used 4 T brown sugar and it is perfect!

  3. YUMMY!!!! I used this for a chicken stir-fry. I cooked the chicken in a little sesame oil, added my veggies, then poured this sauce over all and let simmer for a few min. until thickened. OUTSTANDING!!! Only thing I changed was that I added a bit more garlic (well, ok, A LOT more garlic), and some crushed balck pepper. This is such a simple and versatile recipe! Thanks so much Theresa!! ~Manda

  4. This is great Teriyaki - even having fudged the recipe using Splenda instead of regular sugar. It tasted wonderful. I put it over Broccoli and Beef that I had stir fried and it was very delicious. I think I'll be using this recipe again without the cornstarch for a marinade. I don't think I'll every buy bottled Teriyaki again!!

  5. I love this recipe. I triple it and pour it into a great big pickle jar then pour a little bit in a smaller jar for easy pouring. This is right up there with Edo of Japan and so inexpensive to make! Thank you for this awsome recipe!

Tweaks

  1. This is a great recipe, everyone loved it. Instead of a cup of water, I used mostly pineapple just with a little water to make a cup of liquid.

  2. Excellent! I made as directed except substituted splenda and a bit of molasses for 2T of the brown sugar. I used with chicken and vegetable stir fry. The flavor and consistency was just right. I especially liked the fresh ginger. I will definitely make again. Thanks for posting!

  3. I made this recipe awhile ago and it was fantastic!! I had a a lot of leftover beef and I cooked that up with some frozen stir fry veggies and threw this sauce over it all... My hubby and I both enjoyed it and I will be making it again... The only thing I changed was that instead of using 1 cup of water, I used 1 cup of beef broth... I made this again today except I fried up some chicken, onion and bell pepper... mmm yummy

  4. I use honey instead of brown sugar, and I add a few shakes of sesame seeds, pepper, and chili flakes. Even without those additions, though, this is by far the most delicious recipe I've found for teriyaki sauce. It beats the bottled store-bought stuff ANY day, though with the chili and pepper added it is very reminiscent of "House of Tsang's Korean Stir Fry Sauce," which is what I used to buy. (This tastes better though and is LOTS cheaper!)

  5. Definitely tastes like teriyaki sauce however I found this sauce to be very salty and instead of brown sugar, I used a TBSP of honey!
