  1. This was horrible!!! Not even edible!!!!!

  2. fantastic! was skeptical at first when looking at ingredients (no bacon! don't need it!) i too upped the chili powder and lessened the cinnamon. the recipe says to add sugar, but is not on the ingredients list. i added 1 tbsp of brown. everything boiled down nicely. will be making this for the rest of my life.

  3. Wonderful! I changed the recipe a bit - doubled the amount of beans, increased the chili to 2 teaspoons, put in a whole lemon and dried parsley instead of fresh. I was a bit hesitant about the amount of cinnamon but put it all in anyway - and it was totally worth it. I think one reviewer said that the lemon juice makes this recipe and I would agree - lemon gives a wonderful tangy taste to the beans. Will make this again and again!

  4. Really, really good! I cut back a bit on the cinnamon and upped the hot chilli powder as we like stuff spicy, but the recipe would have been great as is as well! I did cheat after about 1/2 hour and thickened it up with cornflour as I was so hungry and it smelt so good! Thanks for posting!

  5. These were wonderful!! I'm not fond of sweet baked beans so I only added about 1 tablespoon of brown sugar. Will try maple syrup next time too. I browned some sausages together with the onions. I think the lemon is what makes this exceptional. Next time I won't put as much water, it seemed to take forever to thicken...or maybe I was just hungry. LOL. Thank you!

This is a picture of me and my husband in Portugal, climbing up above the clouds with our bikes. Right now we are travelling around the world on our bicycles, so I only pop onto Zaar occasionally, when internet connections and time allow me to. If I don't reply to a message about one of my recipes, now you know why! Our trip may take several years so if it's urgent, it's probably better for you to post in the forums ;) Good food is really important to me -- I am happy to pay extra for food that I feel is produced in a sustainable and ethical way and always try to eat using seasonal produce. When we were in the UK we rarely shopped at supermarkets, trying instead to favour small producers, although we were very lucky in that we lived in London and there was lots of choice. We also were fortunate enough to have a weekly organic veg box delivered to our door, filled with so many lovely vegetables for very little money. It really opened my horizons in terms of the variety of vegetables I eat. If you're in the UK, check out Riverford for a box supplier as they're amazing! When I'm not eating I love to take pictures and travel with my husband. <img src="http://i3.photobucket.com/albums/y53/DUCHESS13/World%20Tour/ZWT2.gif">
