In a large skillet, bring 1 cup water, oil, salt, and pepper to a simmer over medium heat.

Add the green beans and onion.

Cover, and cook until the beans are crisp-tender, 8 to 10 minutes.

Uncover, and continue cooking, stirring frequently, until water has evaporated, beans are tender, and onions are beginning to brown, 5 to 8 minutes more.
The flavors of this dish were fantastic! Cooking the beans with onion and water almost made it reminiscent of french onion soup! I did feel that the green beans were very over cooked though. I think that could easily be solved by cutting the water in half. Thanks for the great method and mixture of ingredients!

Quick, easy, and convent for busy work nights. Used frozen cut beans as that was what I had in the freezer which did cut the cooking time by about 5 minutes.
