Rick's Steak Seasoning II

This one has a history. My DW, Sue, and I used to eat at Outback Steakhouse quite a bit. We liked their Outback Special and I attempted to get the spice mix recipe, but was unsuccessful. I made an stab at reproducing the taste and came fairly close. Then tragedy struck; I had a hard drive failure and somehow the steak seasoning recipe escaped the backups. Instead of trying to reproduce it I was determined to make it better without using seasoned salt that was in the original. This is the result. Please use it for your own enjoyment, but if you have a commercial interest in mind, please contact me first.

Ingredients:

Yield: 1 Variable

• 2 tablespoons cayenne pepper , ground
• 2 tablespoons black pepper , ground fresh
• 1 tablespoon chili powder , ancho
• 1 tablespoon paprika
• 1 teaspoon sugar
• 1 teaspoon cumin , ground
• 1 teaspoon garlic powder
• 1 teaspoon onion powder
• 1 tablespoon salt

Directions:

1. Mix all ingredients together and pour into a shaker. Use to season steaks.
2. for grilling or broiling.

I think my life changed when I made this the first time, I don't even want to remember what steak was like before this seasoning. That said, I made a small substitution. The first time I made it, I used garlic salt instead of powder, and left out the onion powder. Since then I have gotten those ingredients. My parents and in-laws tried steaks with this seasoning, and refuse to eat anything else! Thank's Rick, you are a king among men.

This is awesome. The flavors are great. It does have a nice kick to it, but so does the steak at the Outback. I have used this seasonings for parties and company, it always gets rave reviews! It is also good on fish, shrimp and chicken! Yumm-o!

Holy cow this is hot! If you're a wimp like me, start with less cayenne. My lips are still burning. I think this would make a great wing coating.
