This is from an old booklet put out by the Walla Walla Gardeners Association. Walla Walla is in SW Washington state, where the sweetest onions outside of Vidalia, GA are grown! (how's that for diplomacy!)
- 1 large walla walla onion, peeled and thinly sliced
- 4 tomatoes, sliced
- 1⁄2 cup of fresh mint, minced
- salt and pepper
- Layer ingredients, cover and chill 2 hours or more.
This salad is awesome! I knew I would love it as soon as I saw it. Such simple ingredients and so fresh. I hid the very last bit to have on my toast for breakfast and that was awesome too! Thanks Mikekey.
Very delicious!! I used vindalia onion, plum tomatoes, sea salt, freshly ground black pepper, plus the fresh mint. I didn't refrigerate so long but will try that next time with real garden fresh tomatoes and mint insha Allah (God willing). Made for *** RAMADAN RECIPE TAG - 2011 ***
