Homemade Lemonade

I love lemonade, especially one made from scratch. You can adjust the sugar to your sweetness. Cook time includes chilling time.

• Total Time: 8 hrs 20 mins
• Prep Time: 20 mins
• Cook Time: 8 hrs

Ingredients:

Servings: 8

• 1 ½ cups sugar
• ½ cup boiling water
• 2 teaspoons grated fresh lemon rind
• 1 ½ cups fresh lemon juice
• 5 cups cold water
• lemon slice

Directions:

1. Stir together sugar and 1/2 cup boiling water until sugar dissolves.
2. Stir in lemon rind, lemon juice and 5 cups cold water.
3. Pour into a 2 quart pitcher.
4. Chill 8 hours.
5. Garnish with lemon slices.
6. Serve over ice.

DH was all set today to make (disgusting) pink lemonade FROM A CAN of crystals! "Hold it, hold it" I cried. "Let me check Zaar first!!" The rest is history. I had enough lemons in the fridge for 8 ozs. and used 4 oz. of bottled lemon juice. This was TOTALLY AWESOME. I am so happy! Can you tell? This is sooo easy (and FUN) to make that I can't wait to go buy a bushel basket of lemons! AMEN!

Taste is EXCELLENT... but only due to MY OWN FAULT, I didn't read how much it produces. I seen 2 quart container and figured..ohhhh good, a nice big container! Well, no wonder everyone makes triple batches. I did nine fresh lemons squeezed and it produced short of 1-1/2 cups of lemon juice. Next time Ill know better and Ill try lemons WITH some bottled lemon juice to produce at least a quart of it. Even my southern sweet -ice -tea loving husband LOVED it!!!
