A delicious and traditional English style artisanal mustard made with good English ale and garlic; the type of mustard that is so expensive to buy in the supermarkets.
Home-made mustard is easy to make and very satisfying, as you can add special ingredients to suit your taste. This mustard is wonderful served with all manner of pies, pasties and savoury pastries, as well as cold meats, steaks, roasts and sausages. It is a quick maturing mustard, and is ready to eat in two weeks. Makes an ideal gift, especially for men and BBQ fanatics!
I'm thinking Christmas. This turnout great and would make a nice gift come the Holidays for someone like my brother who likes spice mustards. DH who is not fond of strong flavors was the only one at lunch who did not care for this mustard. Thank for the post.

I am signed up for a "cooking gifts" class in the near future and was excited to try making a homemade mustard. I didn't have any canning jars so I packed the mustard into some empty spice bottles I had kept for reuse. I still have another week to wait till I can taste but the smell is fantastic. This was easy and fun to try.

This is wonderful, easy to make and fun to serve. It was my first try at making mustard and I'll certainly do so again. I've just tried it at two weeks and it has a spicy hit, but wonderful flavor and is not too much for hearty foods. Thank you so much for posting it. Now I need to find a source for mustard seeds other than my market, where they were pricey...
