Make and share this Forbidden Rice recipe from Food.com.
- Combine everything in 3 quart or larger glass or ceramic casserole, or large microwave rice cooker.
- Microwave on High 10 minutes, then on half power 25 minutes, or until tender and liquid is absorbed.
- Fluff with a fork and serve hot!
Forbidden Rice is somewhat expencive, I mixed 1/8 of a cup with one cup of regular white rice to make what I thought would be a "Salt and pepper look" Suprise all the rice turned out black or dark purple anyway, with a diferent taste. I used a rice cooker, but I guess stove top would work too.
So easy .... so good !!! My whole family L-O-V-E-d it !!!
Nice, slightly nuttier and chewier than white rice. I like the microwave directions, but I'm wondering if anyone else's exploded? :) (it cleaned up easily surprisingly). My 12-year old son enjoyed it. The only thing I'll do differently next time is to keep a closer eye on it.
