Cranberry-Tangerine Sauce With Apples & Almonds

- 2 tangerines, unpeeled and chopped (remove seeds)
- 2 cups water
- 1 (12 ounce) bag cranberries, rinsed
- 2 medium tart green apples, peeled,cored,chopped
- 1 1⁄2 cups sugar
- 1 cup slivered almonds
directions
- Combine tangerines and water in a saucepan.
- Cook rapidly until peel is tender, about 20 minute.
- Add cranberries, apples, sugar.
- Bring to a boil over medium-low heat, stirring occasionally until sugar is dissolved.
- Increase heat and boil gently for about 20 minutes.
- As mixture thickens, stir frequently to prevent sticking.
- Add almonds during last 5 minutes of cooking.
- Cool and refrigerate or freeze.

This turned out very good! I halved the recipe and used an orange. I was concerned about the oranges cooked whole being bitter(from past experience with another recipe), so I peeled the orange and removed the white pith.This turned out great and had a lovely flavor. I put the whole thing through the food processor and coarsely chopped it. Thank you Roxy!

I’ve been using “Zaar” website for the last year but ready to commit myself to adding my two cents worth (including some photos). I live with my DH and two great kids and one crazy dog in the foothills of Colorado. We have a great view with lots deer and red rocks. I come from a food-loving family, including my nearby sister who is willing to discuss "what's for dinner" first thing in the morning! I’ve loved cooking every since I was a teenager. I don’t work so I have lots of time to cook my latest craving. I love to try and duplicate dishes I enjoy from restaurants. I have a lot of cookbooks, but now use mostly “Zaar” recipes and from “Cooks Illustrated.” I love reading cookbooks (library) and like the old classics from Betty Crocker to backs of food labels. I love to research lots of recipes before I decide which one to make.
