Can Do Quick Sweet Dough

My Grandma raised 6 kids, and has oodles of Grandchildren and Great-Grandchildren. She loved to bake -- most of her recipes were from memory. Before she passed away, I was able to watch her make this dough and wrote the measurements down. It is a favorite of all the family, so I wanted to share it with everyone. Good for cinnamon rolls, or dinner rolls

• Prep Time: 1 hrs 30 mins
• Cook Time: 30 mins

Ingredients:

Servings: 24

• 2 (¼ ounce) packages dry yeast
• ½ cup warm water (105-115 degrees)
• 1 ¼ cups buttermilk
• 2 eggs
• 5 ½ cups flour
• ½ cup butter , softened
• ½ cup sugar
• 2 teaspoons baking powder
• 2 teaspoons salt

Directions:

1. Dissolve yeast in the warm water in a large mixing bowl. Add buttermilk, eggs, 2 1/2 cups flour, butter, sugar, baking powder and salt.
2. Blend 30 seconds on low speed, scraping sides and bottom of the bowl.
3. Beat 2 minutes on medium speed. Stir in remaining 3 cups of flour. Dough should be soft and slightly sticky.
4. Knead for about 5 minutes on a lightly floured board. Shape as desired. Let rise in a warm place until double. (about 1 hour -- depending on temperature) Dough is ready to bake if slight dent remains when touched. Bake at 375 degrees. I don't have a bake time, but 20 minutes is about standard. It is best to keep a close eye.

Excellent dough. I made these into cinnamon rolls and they were soft and fluffy. I baked them at 350 for 25 minutes. This is a great recipe for new bakers. The amount of flour is spot on and the dough is a dream to work with. Thank you for sharing your grandma's recipe. Will be using this again and again.

this sweet dough turned out out very well with the addition on the baking powder, I used it to make a cinnamon-nut bread, I got one medium loaf and one mini loaf, will use this recipe again, thanks Kitty!
