Apple Oatmeal (Crock-Pot)

"I liked this as a change from regular oatmeal - and it is ready when you wake up! Although the original recipe uses wheat berries, I used oat bran with great results. Recipe source: The Healthy Slow Cooker"

  1. Nice to wake up to hot apple oatmeal all ready to go. Made as written using the wheat berry option. We really like nice chewy wheat berries, but these stayed a little hard?? The taste was very nice with the apples and apple juice making it sweet enough that no sweetener is needed. Thanks for the post.

  2. Goodness. . .hate to do this. . .but this just didn't work for us. I made the recipe as written (even went out and bought steel cut oats) using the oat bran and apple juice options. My oatmeal cooked on low for 8.5 hours, covered. It was pillowy, fluffy, bland mush. We did add some walnuts and Stevia and ate it for breakfast though. Thanks for posting. . .I had fun making it!

  3. I made this according to the recipe, using the oat bran and cranberry juice. I don't know what I did wrong, because it was awful, I'm sorry to say. It smelled so good when we got up, so we were super disappointed.

  4. It was so nice to wake up to the aroma of cinnamon and apples, and to have a delicious breakfast ready and waiting to be enjoyed. I used the oat bran option since I had some on hand and also added 1/4 cup of powdered milk to the mixture since I usually cook my oatmeal in milk rather than water. To serve, I poured on more milk and sprinkled it with brown sugar. Made for NEWEST ZAAR TAG.

I lost over 90 pounds on Weight Watchers and have maintained for over a year now -- so my cooking/eating habits have changed drastically following my weight loss and to keep it off!</p>
