  • Make a brine of equal parts water and vinegar, then sugar to taste.
  • Slice cucumbers and onions into brine. Make sure you have enough brine to cover all of the slices.
  • Set in the 'kelvinator' overnight, LOL.
  • Serve chilled.
  • Brine can be reused one time only.

  1. I have a similar recipe that I've used for over 30 yrs but it calls for saccharine tablets... I'm gonna switch to either sugar or Splenda. This is a great summer salad to keep in the frig. Sometimes I add tomatoes and green peppers as well.

  3. Very good and easy. I liked this recipe because a typical brine has salt in it, but this one allows one to control their own amount of salt. Used Splenda instead of sugar and it turned out great.
